Lighting charcoal can be on of the most unpredictable things you do when starting the smoking process. Often you may use lighter fluid or some kind of chimney starter. I have even tried using fire starters, but those often do not cover the amount of charcoal that needs to be lit.
So I recently discovered the Looftlighter. Yes, say that three times really fast. The Looftlighter is perhaps my best discovery. You will no longer need matches, lighter fluid, or some kind of fire starter.
What the Looftlighter does is blow very hot air at your charcoal or fire source. At a high temperature the charcoal will ignite and start to burn. Once you use the Looftlighter started on your charcoal, it will start to burn regularly. It used to take me about an hour to get my fire started and start to burn. With the Looftlighter, it took about half the time. Check out the video here.
